St. Joseph Club

The Saint Joseph Club is a club for high school men sponsored by the Vocation Office.

Who Should Join?

The club is open to all high school men who wish to take a serious look at their lives and grow personally, emotionally, and spiritually. Each member is asked to attend the club's meetings and events in an attempt to discern and understand God's call in their life. Each member must be open to considering Roman Catholic priesthood as an option for their life's vocation. You may attend either a public, private, or Catholic high school.

Why "St. Joseph" Club?

Saint Joseph is the patron saint of our Diocese of Buffalo. As the husband of Mary and earthly father of Jesus, he remains a model for being able to hear, understand, and follow God's call in life. All through the Scripture, St. Joseph is "in tune" with God's messages offering direction through the angels. We ask our Patron, St. Joseph, to intercede for us to better understand and follow God's call in our own lives.

St. Joseph Club Activities

The primary purpose of our meetings and events will be to deepen our understanding of prayer, the sacraments, vocation, and discernment of priesthood as our vocation in life. Certainly we will look at key issues involving priesthood such as simplicity of life, celibacy, respect and obedience to the Bishop, and the role of priest as spiritual Father. We will see that we do not give up being fathers at all, but that we have a greater role in life as "Father."

Prayer for Vocations
Creator God, life is Your gift to me.
Through Baptism,
You invite me to share the gift of my life in service to others.
Be with me as I choose each day to show
Your Presence in our world.
Give me the courage and generosity to respond to
Your love, to Your call.
I pray especially for those who serve You as
Priests, brothers, sisters, deacons and lay ministers.
Keep them close to You.
Open the minds and hearts of many other men and women
that they accept Your challenge to build Kingdom.
Prayer by Roseann Kasayka, OSF

Blessed are you who believed
that what was spoken to you
by the Lord would be fulfilled. Luke 1:45
