HomeSeminaryMeet Our Seminarians > Daniel Serbicki

I come from Kendall, a rural farm town in Western New York.  The oldest of five kids, I was home schooled through High School by my parents.  I am on the young side of average for a vocation to the priesthood.  I actually started thinking about priesthood a few years before picking a college.  I chose Steubenville for many reasons, but I was particularly attracted to their ‘pre-theology' program.  Franciscan University provided a community and formation for discernment without having to pick a particular diocese or community.
While in college, I spent a semester in Austria and traveled to various religious sites including Lourdes and Assisi; spending the Triduum in Rome.  That period really helped me to understand more about what God wanted me to do.  After a great deal more discernment and my graduation, I returned to study at Christ the King Seminary for the Diocese of Buffalo.
If I had a piece of advice to share with someone thinking about priesthood, I would suggest getting to know a good priest that you can trust.  Having a good model of priesthood helps discernment a great deal.  Then, just trust God and listen for his voice in unexpected places!
